Tentative Itinerary - Vienna, Austria 2012
Ski the Dolomiten Lauf and the Dobbiaco/Toblach
trails surrounded by the mighty Dolomites

Sat 1/14/2012

Depart Minneapolis/StPaul on Delta/KLM Airlines for Vienna, Austria

Sun 1/15

Upon arrival at the Vienna Airport we are transferred to our hotel in the Center of Vienna.
Daily breakfasts at the hotel.

Mon1/16

We start our Vienna experience with an over view guided bus tour of this wonderful city. The rest of the day and evening you are free to pursue your individual interests.

Tues 1/17

Explore Vienna on your own. We usually form small informal groups for sightseeing and/or stopping for
lunch and dinner at interesting small eating establishments.
Wed 1/18 This morning we board our private Motor Coach at 9:00AM for an all day ride to Lienz, our home
for the next five days. Hotel accommodations with breakfast and dinners are in the center of Lienz
close to most of the Dolomiten Lauf activities and the Lienz Valley ski trails.
Thurs 1/19 After breakfast our Motor Coach will take us to the Cross Country and Biathalon Center at
Obertilliach for a day of skiing. Obertilliach is the site of the Dolomiten Lauf Classic Races
Fri 1/20 Ski and prepare for the races.
This evening there is a reception for Worldloppet Passport holders followed by the Dolomiten Lauf
Tirolian Party with food, drinks, music and dancing for all the skiers and their guests. Don't forget
your dancing shoes! The party is held at???? right next to our hotel.
Sat 1/21 Race day: 42 or 21 K Classic at Oberilliach.
Sun 1/22 Race Day: 52K or 26K Free Style in Lienz.. Finish is right in the town square of Lienz.
Mon 1/23 After a leisurely post-race breakfast we again load our motor coach for a short drive to Dobbbiaco
in the Alta Pustera region of the Dolomites just across the border in Italy and about a 30K
"ski" from Cortina – site of the 1956 Winter Olympics. By popular demand we are going back to
Hotel Santer (www.Hotel-Santer.com). We will arrive there before check-in time and store our luggage for a few hours. Those of you intending to ski may want to dress for skiing before leaving Lienz. If you prefer to take a rest day from skiing you may just relax in the comfortable lodge or on the terrace overlooking the Dobbiaco/Toblach ski stadium - the venue of many international Nordic Ski Events. Or if your body is still reminding you of the races you may consider a visit to the Hotel's Wellness Center or explore the village of Dobbiaco with it's beautiful church and interesting shops.

Due to limited room availability most of our rooms will be in the annex (30 yards from the main building). On a first-come-first-serve basis you may request one of the main lodge rooms for an additional cost of $45/person for the three nights we are there. Breakfasts and dinners are served in the main building and everybody will have full access to the same facilities.
Thurs 1/26 6:30AM departure for Venice Airport and our 12:30PM flight back to the US.
NOTE: If time is not an issue and you are anxious to add the Marcialonga to your Worldloppet Passport we may be able to extend your stay for a few days. Once I know how many are interested in this option I will arrange for accommodations and transportation and let you know the cost for the extended stay. Please let me know ASAP! FYI we are also considering doing a trip to the Marcialonga (including Lavazeloppet), Seefield and the Konung Ludwig Lauf in another year or two.
